It is firmly believed even today that those men and women whose marriages atirumananchery-perumalre getting delayed due to various circustances, will soon get married if they come to this Sthalam and worhsip God Shiva. Manmadhan is believed to have worshipped God Shiva at this sthalam. UMA MAHESWARAR TEMPLE

The temple is 22 km from Kumbakonam on the Karaikal route. The devotee has to get down at S. Pudur. The temple is south of this place. Near By Railway Station, Aduthurai, 22 Kilo meters from Kumbakonam.

A king Pururavas by name had an attack of leprosy. He visited a number of Shiva temples seeking relief. Finally he reached this temple on the southern bank of Cauvery and was cured. As a token of gratitude to Lord and prayer commitment, he constructed the Vimana with gold coverings and arranged Brahmmotsavas during Vaikasi Visakam, according to the history of land and temple.

Sooriyanar Koil and Thirumanagalakudi are closely related. Navanayakars did their meditation and offered worship to pranavaradeshvarar and Mangalanayaki. People who offer worship at Sooriyanar temple have to go to Thirumangaladudi to offer worship there. In early days both places were same and it was called ‘Argavamam’ before dividing. Both the temples have Erukan plant as ‘Thalavirukcha’.

Thirumangalakudi Temple is a famous temple. Both Thirunavukkarasar and Thiruganasambandar had rendered songs of lord Siva. Mangalakudi, Mangala Vinayagar, Mangala Nayahar, MangalaNayaki and Mangala Theertham are five auspicious ones in Thirumangalakudi.

There is a marked difference of worshipping in this temple from other temples, one has to follow the custom of worshipping.

Bengal Gram is the grain associated for Jupiter. He was Indra(King of Devas) preserved by Lord Brahma. Yellow Sapphire or Topaz was sought for his puja.

Shukra was also called as “Friday”. Shukra means “Bright illumination”. Shukra is the presiding God of Comforts, arts and culture and also a presided of love and married life of Men. Shukra was the instructor of King Bali and demons. He rides the vehicle as a frog.

He is the owner for the zodiac signs of Taurus(Rishaba) and Libra(Thula). He was standing with folded hands. He is Indrani(queen of gods). Diamond was sought for his puja.Flat white beans is the associated grain for Venus.

Shani means “Slowness and Laziness”. He is the presiding God of Very painful experiences,difficulties in life and calamities. Shani owns the vehicle as Crow(Kaaka) means driven out. He is the son of Sun. He looked as dark complexion and wear a black clothes. His eyes are blindfolded because of misfortune of power. He is the owner for zodiac signs of Capricorn(Mahara) and Aquarius(Kumbha). He was Yama(God of Death) preserved by Prajapathi. Black Sesame is the associated grain for Saturn. He is also called as “Saturday”. Blue Sapphires and Black stones are sought for his puja.

Rahu is divided as “Ra” and “Hu” separately. “Ra” means Surrender and “Hu” means Sacrifice. He is the presiding God of Wordly desire. He is closely connected to Ketu.. He rides his own vehicle as lion. He born for Rakshasa,a Demon. It is not a planet but an ascending point of Moon. It looks differently. The upper half body of Rahu is like Man and lower half is like a Snake.

He does not be a member of any zodiac sign but gives effect of the sign. He was dragon head preserved by Lord Durga(Goddess of power) and Naga Devathai(Serpent God). Black Gram is the associated grain for Rahu.

Adi kumbeswarer temple: The famous temple in Kumbakonam is Adi kumbeswarer temple. In this place the sacred Amutha Kumbam has its resting for sacred rise. Because of this, this place is named as Kudamooku and in due course Kumbakonam and then Kudanthai.

The temple situate in the midst of the populated area of residence and business attracts large gathering of devotees every day. The structure of building is monumental and carries the glory of historical period. The temple is beautiful in structure and of art.

The Rajagopuram is fantastic and is rich in structure and height. There are 3 prakaram in and around the temple of course three Gopuram for each prakaram. In the east side Amman temple is located and the deity is Mangalambigai.

This Nageswaran Temple : This Nageswaran Temple or Kudanthai Kiz Kottam is came out of the vilva tree leaves fell down from the kumba of pralaya kala with the grace of Lord siva in hunger rooba. This siva lingam is in the beautiful form. Thevaram has beautiful songs on this deity of kiz kottam.

Lord Nageswarar is in the Linga Rooba. Avudayar is in taller. The base of the lingam is beautiful to took and pray. Lord sun came here to pray for mercy and kindness of the Lord. In the month of Chitharai, April on 11, 12 and 13th of Tamil Day. Sun rays rolling on the deity to prove the fact of his worship historical and ancient.

The sun rays entering into the deity great is said to be the worshipping of sun. There is also a temple for sun in the north prakaram and a beautiful sannithi is there to worship him Aadhiseshan as guided by Lord shiva went to Kumbakonam. Prayed Nageswaran and bestowed with the power on his kindness and mercy. Aadhiseshan also found a Theertham.
